Famous Birthdays

I did my Famous Person (birthday) report on 3 people Beyonce Giselle Knowles September 4,1981, Lucy Alexis Liu December 2, 1968 and Christopher Ashton Kutcher February 7,1978.

When I first started famous people report, I think I did a good job but still this was my first time doing one so I really didn't know how to do it. But gradually I got better. I knew that each time I needed a lot of editing. My Goal for next time is to do an amazing famous person report and EDIT, EDIT, EDIT!!!

Trojan War Script

Characters & Actors
Helen - Alex
Pallas Athena - Alex
Achilles - Camille
Aphrodite - Camille
Paris - Giselle
Sinon- Giselle

Menelaus - Linda
Odysseus - Linda

*Scene 1*

Narrator: Long ago, there once was a beautiful woman named Helen. She was married to a man named Menelaus, the King of Sparta. One day Paris, the prince of
Troy, visited Helen and Menelaus at their palace in Sparta…

Menelaus: Paris! It’s been too long! What brings you to Sparta

Paris: I have come to visit you, my friend!

Menelaus: Excellent! I’m on my way to check on dinner. Will you be staying, my friend?

Paris: If you insist, Menelaus.

Menelaus: Please, why don’t you take a look around? My beautiful bride, Helen, is in the palace. Go ahead and have a chat, I won’t be long, my friend.

*Scene Two*

Paris began to roam Menelaus’s palace. It was a grand palace with many corridors, windows, and doors. Paris heard a sweet voice coming from a passageway. It was a beautiful voice, no doubt the woman who owned it would be just as beautiful. So, Paris followed the voice. As soon as Paris laid eyes on her, it was love at first sight. He turned away, knowing exactly what to do to make Helen his.

*Camille/Aphrodite appears*

Paris: Aphrodite, look at this beautiful woman! I want her to be my bride, you must help me!

Aphrodite: Your wish is my command, Paris.

*Camille/Aphrodite throws hearts on Alex/Helen*

Narrator: Aphrodite began to cast magical spells on Helen so that she would fall deeply in love with Paris. Once the spell had worked its magic, Paris took Helen away and together they road off into the night heading towards Troy.

*Alex/Helen and Giselle/Paris leave room*

*Linda/Menelaus enters the room again*

Menelaus: Paris, Helen honey, dinner is ready! *looks around* AHHH, WHERE IS MY HELEN?!

Narrator: To say at the least, Menelaus was utterly and completely devastated.

*Scene Three*

Narrator: And so Menelaus’s chieftains sailed across the ocean all the way to Troy to retrieve Helen back for Menelaus. The Spartans believed it would be an easy win, but they were wrong. The Trojans were very strong, and many died, even Achilles and Paris. Ten years had gone by and the war was still going on.

Narrator: Supposedly, Pallas Athena was very angry at the Greeks for having this battle. But that is not true, she was not angry at all.

Odysseus: The only way to win is through a sneak attack! I have a wooden horse, and in that wooden horse our soldiers will hide. We’ll give the horse to the Trojans as a ‘peace offering’ and they’ll accept it! Once the soldiers are inside, they’ll ruin Troy, and WE will be victorious! We’ll ‘leave Sinon behind’ to tell the Trojans the ‘story’.

*Scene Four*

Narrator: The Spartans made it look like they were retreating, they sailed out to the horizon but stopping, not going all the way back to Sparta. That way the Trojans would believe that the Spartans had forfeited and retreated back to Sparta. Finally, Sinon began to play his part.

Sinon: Oh, Trojans!

Trojan Gatekeeper: You there, what business have you?

Sinon: I am Sinon, here to inform you that he Spartans have forfeited, and are presenting you with this large, extravagant, wooden horse as a peace offering! Please accept kind Trojan Gatekeeper!

Trojan Gatekeeper: Well. I’ll have to speak to someone about it…

Narrator: And the Trojan Gatekeeper spoke to his fellow Trojans, and they felt that the Spartans had really given up. What fools they were.

Trojan Gatekeeper: Alright, bring the horse in!
*Trojan Gatekeeper opens gate, letting the horse in*

Sinon: Thank you!

*Sinon leaves, snickering*

Narrator: Night fell, and the Spartan soldiers exited the wooden horse. The soldiers captured and slaughtered many Trojan citizens and lit the city of Troy on fire.

Winter break project! (Pay it forward)

Monday, December 22, 2008 Pay it forward

Over the winter break we were asked by our teachers to " pay it forward". Which means to do a random act of kindness and not ask for anything in return. So I did my brothers chores, and visited my Nana ( grandma). I also helped re- do my basement over the break . In the next few paragraphs I will explain how I did this!

So first I shoveled my 2 walk ways. I wore a hat, mittens, and a heavy jacket because it was really cold out. The first time I shoveled my sister helped me, because it wasn't that cold out. But the second time I shoveled was today and it was really cold out. But I didn't care because I was helping my brother out by shoveling for him. And I was also helping the mail woman because she can't deliver our mail if the our path has snow all over it! So here is a picture of me shoveling.

I also helped my parents with our basement. First I helped sand the walls in basement. Then we needed to clean up all the dust down there and vacuum everything. After that my sister and I had to clean all the walls with warm soapy water. That really hurt my arms . The next day we were ready to paint. I don't really know how to paint, so I only did some painting in my basement . After we painted , there was MORE cleaning! I had to crawl on the floor on a towel and clean up any paint that fell with a rag. Gross ! Sorry I don't have a picture of me doing this!

One day after I was done cleaning down stairs. I thought of my Nana and I thought she would like it if I would bake her cookies on a cold day. So my sister and I made her some oatmeal and pecan cookies. After they were made I phoned my Nana and asked her if it was okay if I could bring her something. And that it was a surprise! I packed the warm cookies in a container and my sister and I walked over there. She asked us to come in and talk. So we did, she told me how happy she was for thinking of her and that she loved me. Which is normal because she's my grandma. When we came home I felt really happy because all I could think of was that my Nana was happy because I thought of her. And that I did something nice for another person. Even if it was my grandma and not a stranger.

For my last act of kindness I volunteered to serve lunch for other people. The people I served were ones I know from my religion taking a 2 week course . So they weren't complete strangers :) Any ways when I got there I helped prepare the plates of food for the lunch. By the way we had Greek food it was really good! ^^. When the people came out , the other severs and myself would ask them if they would like any thing to drink or if they were enjoying the meal. This was a lot of fun because I got to catch up with a few friends that I haven't talk to in awhile. And when they were done eating they clapped for us, because we did a job on the food! Which was nice because they really appreciated the meal and the kind act. Over all it was really fun. Behind me is the place I severed at.external image 100_0927.jpg

I really liked this project it was a lot of fun! :) I liked how it made us think of others before ourselves and it makes the world a little bit better. And like Mr. Harbeck says their are a lot of us grade 8 kids . So just imagine if we all help 3 people or even if we only helped 1 it still makes a difference. And it makes us happy because we made someone smile! Maybe this wasn't or first choice to do a random act of kindness over the holidays but I know I feel really happy for doing this. So thanks to all the teachers for assigning this project! And I hope everyone had a good break! <3

Can one person make a difference? Well yes they can! Just look at what all of the grade 8's have done. I'm sure that everyone who received that act of kindness , had a better day because of it. 2 comments
